Douglas L. McCord CPA
Douglas L. McCord has been involved in the Financial and Accounting Industry since 1965. Doug graduated from Eastern Kentucky in 1965 with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. He has been a member of The Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 1969. Doug is a Certified Public Accountant, and the original founder of our firm, which was established in 1970.
His area of specialty is corporate tax, with additional strengths in accounting, auditing and estate and tax planning for both the individual and business owner. Doug’s vast experiences have provided him with a clear understanding of complex tax and accounting issues, which have proven invaluable when guiding our clients towards their financial goals. Through consistent reliability, along with a reputation of a superior work ethic and detail, Doug has built a solid base of satisfied clients.
Doug lives in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife Kathy of 42 years. In his leisure, Doug enjoys playing golf with his friends and spending time with his children and four grandsons.

Lafe “Pete” Wheeler CPA, MBA
Pete has been involved in the *Financial Management Industry since 1990. He holds two bachelor degrees from the University of Kentucky, one in Finance obtained in 1987, and the other in Accounting in 1990. He obtained his Certified Public Accountant certificate in 1995 and his Masters in Business Administration in 1999. He is a member of both, The Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
His areas of focus include *investment, retirement and tax planning for his individual clients, as well as strategic and tax planning, auditing and risk management for his professional business clients. In addition to Pete’s public accounting and *investment management experience, he has over fifteen years of corporate experience with a Fortune 500 company. His private sector experience provided him with a solid knowledge base in strategic planning and analysis, which he utilizes in assisting his small business clients to become more productive and cost effective.
Pete’s business philosophy is simple and direct: “I want to work with my clients to identify their goals, build a relationship of mutual trust and guide them in a comprehensive plan that may allow their goals to become a reality.”
Pete has a passion for sports and has participated in being a volunteer coach for baseball, girls fastpitch and basketball for many years. He resides in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife, Shannon, and their two children Zach and Bailey. In his leisure time, Pete enjoys golf and spending time with his family and friends.

Shannon Sunny Wheeler
Shannon is our Director of Client Relations. She joined the firm in June 2007. Prior to coming on board with McCord & Wheeler Financial Services, Shannon was involved with client relations for Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky for seventeen years. While there she received numerous awards for Excellence in Service and was recognized repeatedly for being one of the top 25 employees based on patient satisfaction. She is a 1996 Midway College graduate. Shannon is uniquely qualified for the role of Director of Client Relations because she knows what it is like to run her own business, having been an independent business owner for three years. Shannon likes to spend her free time with her friends and family and loves travel, cooking, art design and community involvement. Some of Shannon’s local area contributions include: set design for a performance art production, volunteering to teach children to read and preparing food and serving those in need.
